Modern Warfare Season 5 is set to launch this week, and with it comes more changes to the Warzone map Verdansk, new multiplayer maps, new operators and presumably new weapons. Season 5 is set to launch Wednesday August 5th at 11PM PT(Aug. 4th)/2AM EST for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. So let’s get into all of the new content coming this week!
Warzone map changes
As you can see in the trailer below, one of the Shadow Company mercenaries blowing the top of the Stadium off. A whole new area has been revealed with the explosion. It appears that the entire indoor section is now accessible and will undoubtedly lend itself to some new scenery and gunfights. We can’t wait to check it out.
As you can also see in the trailer, a train which has been rumored for a couple weeks now has finally been revealed for Season 5. The train will add a completely new dynamic to the map. It may even create some adrenaline boosting situations while battling atop a moving freight train!
In addition to these new features in Verdansk, ziplines appear to have been added to skyscrapers. This will also change the dynamics considerably. Many players have gotten used to camping on top of a high sky scraper sniping away at the players below with only one or two ways up. The ziplines will for sure change this dynamic. Snipers won’t be able to enjoy their high nests for much longer.
New multiplayer maps
With Modern Warfare Season 5 comes four new multiplayer maps. Suldal Harbor (6v6), Petrov Oil Rig (6v6), Verdansk Intl. Airport (Ground War), and Livestock (Gunfight).
New operators
Modern Warfare Season 5 will also add three new operators to your roster. All three come from Shadow Company, a rogue faction of mercenaries who “operate outside the boundaries of the original Armistice.” According to a press release from Infinity Ward, the group is meant to shake up the dynamics of Verdansk. And as we can see from the trailer, they’ve definitely shaken things up a bit. From the press release we learn more about these mysterious operators. Let’s see what they’re about.
Marcus “Lerch” Ortega
“Lerch hails from Plano, Texas and is a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps. Known on the battlefield for his enthusiasm and success in regards to eliminating the enemy, it was better to have Lerch with you rather than against you. Following USMC, civilian life didn’t suit Lerch, so he re-entered the fight in the private sector and is considered a one-man force multiplier. When the Shadow Company CEO came across Lerch’s dossier, he was the perfect combination of skill and moral flexibility. There’s no contract Lerch won’t take on nor challenge he won’t face which is how he finds himself in Verdansk leading the other Operators of Shadow Company.”
Velikan
Not much is known about Velikan. Dressed in full body armor for protection in battle and to hide his identity, little is confirmed about this Operator. A shadow of a shadow. Tales of his exploits are written off as fairytales at best and gross exaggerations at worst. Those who know him never speak ill of him. Whether it’s due to fear or respect, no one knows.
Rozlin “Roze” Helms
Rozlin “Roze” Helms joined the Shadow Company after migrating from the Allegiance faction Jackals. Previously, Roze cut ties with the Armed Services and returned to support her family and ailing father. Periodically in contact with Mace, now a PMC who left the Army after abandoning his post in protest of combat orders he deemed illegal, Roze gained entry into the Jackals mercenary group. Now Roze is letting her skill prove her worth as she provides support to Shadow Company while remaining on cordial terms with Mace.
New weapons
As expected, Season 5 will also introduce new weapons into your arsenal. As you can see in the image below, two previously unknown weapons can be seen. They appear to be some variation of the AN-94 (background) and the ACP-9 SMG (foreground). Although these will most likely have different names, this follows a consistent pattern of previous released weapons being shown in the trailer. Take a look.
I’m so hyped for this season, there is so much content. Looking forwards to see what else they have in store for us
