With 2020 finally behind us, it’s time to look forward to all the next-gen games coming out in 2021. Even though the next-gen consoles, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, just released, there aren’t that many true next-gen games that challenge them in any way. So besides conquering a global pandemic, let’s look forward to all the next-gen games coming out next year.
Next-gen games for 2021
For today’s selection, we’ve filtered through dozens of upcoming games and selected the ones that are awesome. As you may have concluded already, ‘awesome’ is entirely subjective. So if you’re missing a title you’ve been looking forward to for years, do let us know in the comments or on our Facebook page.
As for the parameters of our picks, all selected games must be slated for 2021 (obviously). Additionally, they have to be coming out on next-gen (or technically, current gen now) consoles. With that out of the way, check out all the next-gen games we’re looking forward to in 2021 below.
Updates and remasters
Lets start things off with a few remasters and next-gen ports. Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those games that desperately needs a next-gen conversion which is coming sometime this year. The same goes for The Witcher 3. Additionally, instead of a new Grand Theft Auto, GTA V and GTA Online are also ported to next-gen in 2021.
- GTA 5 / GTA Online (PS5, XSX) – Second half of 2021
- The Witcher 3 (PS5, XSX) – TBA 2021
- Cyberpunk 2077 (PS5, XSX) – TBA 2021
New releases
As for brand new releases, there’s a whole list of exciting new games coming up this year. Quite a few of them were initially planned for a release around the holidays of 2020. But due to obvious reasons, games like Halo: Infinite and Deathloop were delayed.
Additionally, most games down below have at least a trailer or two floating around online (barring Battlefield 6). To keep the article nice and tidy, we’ve refrained from posting them here.
Lastly, we’ve ordered all the selected games by release date. As you go down the list, you’ll notice a lot of ‘TBA 2021’, meaning the exact release dates are still to be announced. All we know of those titles, is that they’ll come out sometime this year. Unless we’re hit with COVID remastered, that is…
