Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Announced (Trailer)

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has been announced for the (also recently announced) Xbox Series X at the Game Awards 2019. The award show featured a few little surprises, and the suggested (but not confirmed) launch game for the Series X definitely is one.

Hellblade 2 is the sequel to 2017 ‘s renowned Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The initial game by developer Ninja Theory garnered rave reviews across the board. It was a surprise hit, because despite it’s hack and slash appeal, it deals with heavy subjects. Mental health is a big aspect of the first Hellblade. An unconventional and sensitive theme to be sure.

The trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 suggests it won’t shy away from that. Also the fantasy vibe is still there and so is the setting, inspired by Scandinavian mythology and culture. The way that has come alive in the trailer is astounding to say the least. The animations, textures, lighting, and modelling all look insanely good. Of course it is a glorified cutscene, but if the Xbox Series X can churn out even a fraction of the photo-realism achieved in the trailer, Microsoft is in business.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 may be a release title for the Series X. The upcoming console will release somewhere in the holiday season of 2020, though no specific release windows for Hellblade 2 has been given.
