Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was always going to be a smash hit, despite the loot box controversy leading up to the release. But even Activision executives will be pleasantly surprised by just how many sales records the opening weekend of the soft reboot broke.
In a press release, Activision has announced that they have earned $600 million in sales with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in it’s opening weekend, making it the biggest AAA title of 2019 so far. Beating titles like Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Borderlands 3 and The Division 2 with it’s opening weekend sales.
The latest installment in the popular shooter franchise also beat the likes of God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Uncharted 4 as Highest Digital Dales on PlayStation 4 ever in the first three days. The game also beat the record of previous titles in the franchise as Biggest Call of Duty Launch ever on PC.
Rob Kostich, president of Activision is obviously happy with the insane achievement from the Modern Warfare-dev and congratulated the developers of the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is sure to break more records in the weeks to come, as the hype and anticipation for the game have been through the roof. And while there is still a few issues that need to be worked out with the game, we are confident that it’s is going to go down as one of the best titles of all time in the Call of Duty franchise.
