Former Xbox Exec Mike Ybarra Joins Blizzard As Executive Vice President

Former Xbox Executive Mike Ybarra announced on Twitter Wednesday night that he would be taking over the role of Executive Vice President and GM at Blizzard Entertainment starting November 4th, 2019.

The news comes just two weeks after Ybarra announced his departure from Microsoft.  Ybarra has received an outpouring of support through both announcements from both his colleagues at Xbox as well as fans all throughout the community.

As many may know, Blizzard is currently in the midst of a PR storm after the recent banning of a Hearthstone player for a public display of political discourse.  And although Blizzard has responded, many are interested to see what kind of statements, if any, will be made at BlizzCon regarding the controversy.  Hopefully Ybarra brings some PR tips and tricks he learned at Microsoft to the table.

Ybarra worked at Microsoft for over 20 years, assuming the role of Vice President in January of 2017.  He has been praised throughout the community for the great work he’s done with Microsoft.
