Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was recently released in conjunction with the arrival of next-gen consoles. If you haven’t gotten it yet, make sure you get some PlayStation Gift Cards in exchange for a whole new FPS experience!
So far, there are around 30 individual weapons available to use in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is separated into 10 different weapon categories. All of them are useful in their own ways. However, as is usually the case in every Call of Duty game, a couple of weapons will always stand out. More importantly, of those weapons, there are superior loadouts as well.
Unfortunately, trying to figure out which weapons and load-outs are better compared to the others takes a lot of time and effort, which is a commodity that not all of us have. But, lucky for us, we don’t need to do all of the experiments ourselves.
Professional Call of Duty players have spent dozens if not hundreds of hours playing the game already since its launch. This means that they’re the best resource if we want to know which loadouts are better.
Scroll down below to find out the best loadouts in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as well as which pros are using them and why.
What are the Best Cold War Weapons?
Before anything else, let’s talk about the best weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War based on the current state of the game. This is because they’ll be the focus of our loadouts for maximum efficiency.
So far, the most popular and current-meta weapons are the following:
- AK-47u
- MP5
- Krig 6
- XM4
- Pelington 703
The Best Loadouts for Cold War
Best AK-74u Loadout
If you’re a veteran of Call of Duty, you’ll know that the AK-74u is an iconic SMG that was once considered the best in the game years ago. However, fast forward today and it’s now back on top. In fact, many pros like Simp from Atlanta FaZe and Scump from OpTic Chicago have used the gun to great effect.
One thing that professional Call of Duty players seem to like about the AK-47u is how it offers a lot of firepower and range for an SMG, which is a gun that’s already naturally good at bursting down enemies. Because of this, they’re starting to favor it over the fan-favorite MP5 as the gun is now the optimal choice for objective game modes.
Muzzle: Muzzle Brake 5.56
Barrel: 10.3” Task Force
Underbarrel: Foregrip
Handle: GRU Elastic Wrap
Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
Best M16 Loadout
There isn’t a single best weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but the M16 comes close in capable hands. It can’t exactly kill enemies in a single shot unless it’s straight to the head, but a single three-shot-burst is often enough to take unassuming players down. The worst part here is that the gun is powerful at almost any range.
We’re also slightly biased to the M16 as we personally use it ourselves. Because of this, we’re going to be using our very own loadout, which improves recoil control and damage while allowing you to move while shooting. This is one of our personal favorite loadouts for Black Ops Cold War.

Muzzle: Silencer
Barrel: 20.5″ Task Force

Underbarrel: Field Agent Foregrip

Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap

Best Krig 6 Loadout
Krig 6’s popularity is due to the combination of nerfs to other ARs and Tactical Rifles, as well as other professional Call of Duty players finding out just how destructive this gun is with its naturally high damage and fire rate.
What professionals love about the Krig 6 is that the recoil is predictable, so it’s easy to compensate and overcome. Not to mention, its weakness, the iron sights, are easily solved by putting in a Millstop or a Microflex which is precisely what Clayster of the New York Subliners does.
Wild Card: Gunfighter
Optic: Microflex LED
Muzzle: Muzzle Brake 5.56
Barrel: 19.7″ Takedown
Body: Steady Aim Laser
Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
Magazine: 40 Rnd
Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap

Best XM4 Loadout
Surprised? Yeah. Us too. Apparently, the XM4 is a good solid choice if you know what you’re doing. The XM4, if properly kitted out, is a good alternative to the Krig 6 and the AK-47 and while it’s not as heavily favored by professionals, we’ve had a lot of success with it, which is exactly why we’re recommending it.
With that said, what we’re doing with our loadout for the XM4 is focusing on improving its mobility and damage.

Barrel: 13.5″ Reinforced Heavy
Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
Handle: Speed Tape
Stock: Raider Pad
Best Pelington 703 Loadout
The Pelington 703 is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to sniper rifles because of how it handles so well and yet still has a lot of firepower. However, as with any other weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it can always be improved.
In this case, what we’re going to do is to help improve how much faster you can eliminate your target without giving them a chance to fire back at you.
Wildcard: Gunfighter
Optic: Sillix Holoscout
Muzzle: Sound Moderator
Barrel: 26.5” Tiger Team
Body: Steam Aim Laser
Underbarrel: Bipod
Magazine: 7 Rnd
Handle: Airborn Elastic Wrap

Conclusion
There you have it, the best guns and the best loadouts for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Just keep in mind that the list isn’t permanent, by any means. The game constantly changes based on updates, nerfs, and patches. Not to mention, even if there’s no update, one professional player or two or even just a hardcore player might be able to find a different way to utilize a little-known weapon that makes it better compared to the others.
With that said, make sure that you put in the time to learn how to tailor and build your own loadouts as well.
Remember, in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, one’s weapon of choice isn’t always dictated by the meta-game. Sometimes, we choose weapons based on what we’re most comfortable using, and that’s more important than anything else.
