Some weird things are going on in the world of Red Dead Online, as players are finding what seem to be zombies in and around the town of Armadillo. The undead NPC’s started to appear after last weeks update and some Red Dead Redemption veterans are hoping for an Undead Nightmare sequel.
Players are posting pictures on Reddit (spotted by Polygon) showing what appear to be undead people standing up, laying down and even moving. Although it’s tempting to pull the trigger on the conclusion that these yellow-eyed things are indeed zombies, there’s also a storyline involving Cholera that takes you to the outskirts of Armadillo. The infectious disease produces symptoms like sunken eyes and wrinkly blueish skin.

So there is a possibility that these people are supposed to be Cholera-patients, standing up because of a glitch, but the glowing eyes and (allegedly heard) zombie-noises may be pointing us towards a ‘revival’ of Red Dead Redemption’s story DLC Undead Nightmare. One player even states that he took a zombie corpse to the nearest town and shot it, making him wanted for murder. This doesn’t happen when you shoot an actual corpse, again suggesting these things to be living dead.
Other players call the sightings a weird combination of very suggestive glitches and the Cholera storyline, which would be weird considering the sightings to correspond with the monsters from Undead Nightmare, but it could be true.
Even though Rockstar hasn’t announced anything of the likes, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to expect some sort of DLC in the near future. Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially released on October 26th 2018, a few days prior to Halloween. And apart from the fact that we’re coming up to the first anniversary of Rockstar’s cowboy epic, the spooky holiday is also at our doorstep.
It’s not the first time Rockstar has (possibly) hinted at Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Nightmare. Shortly after the release of RDR2, players saw something terrifying when on a certain mission. Be advised, spoiler ahead for the ending of Red Dead Redemption 2.
