‘Chernobyl’ Creator To Produce ‘The Last Of Us’ TV Series For HBO

Chernobyl creator Craig Maizin is teaming up with HBO and The Last Of Us game director Neil Druckmann to produce a post apocalyptic tv series based on the massively popular PS4 game. According to an exclusive report from Hollywood Reporter, producers will be working closely with Naughty Dog higher ups to develop a script and bring the games most recognizable components from The Last Of Us to the TV series.

The Last Of Us has won numerous awards and is hailed throughout the gaming community as one of the best stories in the gaming world. The show Chernobyl also has won multiple awards including an Emmy for outstanding limited series. We are bound to see something great come out of this project and given the success of The Witcher series on Netflix, it is definitely possible for a TV series based on a video game to be wildly successful in the entertainment world.

According to Hollywood Reporter, this upcoming HBO series will cover the events of the original game, with the possibility of additional content based on the upcoming sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which is set to release on May 29, 2020. While there are plenty of games to choose from to develop into TV series’, this one is definitely one of the best options in terms of public interest. Especially since Chernobyl was so well done. If The Last Of Us TV series can pull the best of Chernobyl and the best of the game together into one, then we are in for quite a show—literally!
