Battle royale smash hit Fortnite launched into Chapter 2 late last year after a pretty unique pre-season event. Chapter 2 introduced a new map, new gameplay mechanics and of course, a new season. But said season had been going on for an unusually long amount of time. Finally, Season 2 of Chapter 2 is out. So before you hop into the bus to level your Battle Pass, here’s what is new.
I spy with my little eye
Chapter 2 Season 2 is called Top Secret and it revolves around two spy organizations that took over the island. For each character, you have to decide whether you side with Ghost or Shadow; white versus black. Each ‘faction’ offers a unique set of skins for the diverse cast of characters.
It’s pretty clear that the Epic team is excited for the new James Bond movie, No Time to Die. Think 3-piece suits, a spicy jazz soundtrack, an underground lair, a cat-stroking villain, and of course, an undisclosed non-alcoholic blue beverage (shaken, not stirred). Check out the top secret trailer for this season below:
Skins and more
The new chapter brings a few minor changes to the battleground itself. But who cares what the environment looks like when you can get some of the new hilarious skins. For example, the cat that the gold-handed villain was petting? That’s actually a beefy dude with a cat face called Meowscels. Or what about a banana in a tux called Peely?
Most notably though, there’s a seemingly dull character called Maya added to the game. Each week, Epic Games will release a new Maya challenge that enables you to unlock a customization item. That goes on for basically every body part until you created an entirely unique selection of items. With 3.8 million possibilities, it’s unlikely you’ll ever run into an identical Maya!
Oh, and did we mention that Deadpool is coming to Fortnite?! The foul-mouthed comic book character is supposedly unlockable in-game, though he is unusually elusive in Fortnite. Did you spot him in the trailer above?
Battle Pass
Of course (and sadly, we might add) most of the awesome new stuff is locked behind the Battle Pass. As always, you can unlock 100 tiers of loot, including the new set of characters and skins. The Battle Pass for this season is yours for 950 V-Bucks, approximately $10 real bucks. You will be able to earn some of that back, if you spy and double cross enough.
All in all this seems to be a hugely exciting season for Fortnite. Even us, Apex fanatics, kinda want to take on these new spy-tastic challenges and earn some of those skin. And we could right now; Season 2 of Fortnite is live as we speak.
