Cyberpunk 2077 Short Film Already in Production (Trailer)

Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed until September, but besides the long-awaited RPG, there’s more incoming for fans of the franchise. CD Projekt Red shared a sneak peek of an upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 fan film on their official Twitter page.

Cyberpunk 2077 fan film

The Tweet explains that the Cyberpunk 2077 movie is being directed by action movie director Vi-Dan Tran. While he may not be a household name, he certainly has an impressive resume. He has worked on projects like Skyfall, 6 Underground, Hitman: Agent 47, and Jackie Chan’s The Foreigner. And if you’re doing stunts in a movie for stunt legend Jackie Chan, you’re a force to be reckoned with. Tran also coordinated and directed the praised Star Wars short film Darth Maul: Apprentice.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Phoenix Program

Tran’s movie is called Cyberpunk 2077 – Phoenix Program. Based on the trailer, it has plenty of similarities with the game. Most notably, Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand, seems to play a big role in Phoenix Program. The trailer also opens with the interrogation of what looks to be the male version of the main character of Cyberpunk 2077.

Not your average cosplay movie

As you can see, Cyberpunk 2077 – Phoenix Program isn’t going to be your average fan film with cheap looking sets, bad cosplay, and even worse acting. On the contrary; most of the shots featured in the trailer look really professional, the action looks tight, and everything appears to be taken straight out of the game itself.

Trans also employed the help of some very talented cosplayers. Particularly the relatively well known Geralt of Rivia cosplayer Ben Schamma, also known as Maul_Cosplay. He’s playing Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand and man, does he look breathtaking. Lastly just a quick shout-out to everyone that is a fan of Keanu Reeves (or his on-point lookalike): you’re breathtaking too!

There’s currently no word on when Cyberpunk 2077 – Phoenix Program releases, though the IMDB page at least confirms it’s coming out sometime this year. And when it does, CD Projekt Red will almost certainly notify the world. And regardless of if they do or not, we definitely will.
