February is turning out to be a very busy month for avid gamers. The first quarter of every year usually gives us the last batch of AAA titles to finish out an eventful gaming season starting in the previous year’s holiday season. This year’s first quarter batch seems to pack more of a punch than previous years.
We are kicking this year off with a bang with 5 titles that are HIGHLY anticipated throughout the gaming community. From casual gamers to game enthusiasts, this batch seems to have a something for every type of gamer. So let’s dive in.
1. Anthem
Bioware has been developing Anthem for quite a while–probably longer than you think. Development on the online RPG began shortly after the release of Mass Effect 3 in 2012, which is encouraging to hear that so much time has gone into the development. With that said, the same amount of time was spent on Mass Effect: Andromeda and that was a title that many of us would agree could have used more time for polishing.
Although Anthem does appear to be visually and conceptually stunning, skepticism remains high in the community. Anthem being published by EA has discouraged many gamers away from getting too excited as micro transaction and visual downgrades are expected.
We remain hopeful that Anthem turns out to be the game we believe it could be and either way we are interested in checking it out on February 22nd, available on PC, Xbox and PS4.
2. Metro Exodus
The third installment in the first-person post-apocalyptic shooter series, Metro Exodus will have players embarking on a bitter journey across devastated Russian lands. The previous two Metro titles took place in the dark and dreary subway system. In Metro Exodus, players are returning to Artyom looking for new life within the ruined world.
The journey spans across one year having players start their trek through the harsh nuclear winter across the frozen Russian tundra. We are looking forward to the intense battles and rich single player experiences.
Metro: Exodus is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 15, 2019.
3. Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 is Microsoft’s ambitious exclusive that has been teased for years. From absolute destruction to intense climbing, driving, and shooting experiences, Crackdown 3 is slated to be a game that you can sit down and just have fun with.
The first two titles of Crackdown were a blast and we expect their third release to be an even bigger and better experience.
Multiplayer first made its debut in Crackdown 2 but this time around we are expecting a more exciting experience with the addition of cloud gaming, giving players the ability to destroy the entire arena without sacrificing the core gaming experience. We are excited to see how this plays out!
Crackdown 3 is set to release on PC and Xbox February 15th. Xbox users with Game Pass access will receive Crackdown 3 for free.
4. Jump Force
Manga universes collide with the Shonen Jump themed fighting game from Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco, Jump Force. With a roster of over 30 characters from more than a dozen Shonen Jump anime series, Jump Force looks to be one massive anime cross-over title.
Players will also create their very own manga super hero and team up with heroes from all over the manga universe and take down the evil forces in hectic 3-on-3 match ups.
We are excited to see what kind of mayhem is unleashed with such a huge fighting game title such as Jump Force. With such a huge array of anime characters from different universes we’re sure that Jump Force will be an exciting experience for anyone who plays it.
Jump Force is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 15, 2019.
5. Far Cry: New Dawn
In Far Cry: New Dawn players are picking up the pieces of Hope County from last year’s title Far Cry 5. Just as Joseph Seed prophesied destruction was brought about on Hope County, Montana. Far Cry: New Dawn takes place 17 years after the reign of the Seed’s and you are once again saving the world from a maniacal villain, or villains in this case, The Twins.
While the game does seem to be the same copy and paste title from the previous titles, a new crafting system hopefully will breathe some life into the franchise.
We are hopeful that the new crafting system can add a new aspect to the game and we are looking forward to another exciting title from the Far Cry series.
Far Cry: New Dawn releases on February 15th for PS4, Xbox and PC.
