Far Cry 6 has won action game of the year at this years gamescom prior to the games October launch. Gamescom started last week and showcased some of this year’s upcoming games including the latest from your favorite tropical action shooter. With a new trailer, and now this award, Far Cry 6 seems to be set to perform well.
Gamescom posted their awards for this year’s event and it turns out that a game can win an award without even being released. Which makes sense since their awards are chosen by a group of international video game journalists and content creators. These lucky few get the highly prized sneak peak of some of the hottest unreleased games.
New Far Cry 6 trailer
The festivities kicked off on opening night with a fresh new Far Cry 6 trailer. And I must say, Giancarlo Esposito still is as captivating in the game as he is on some of his most respected TV roles.
But although we’re excited to see the story play out, the graphics didn’t really hit the mark for what you’d expect from a next gen title. Let’s hope there’s improvement. Regardless, it looks like an intriguing story.
The trailer shows the tense nation of Yara under the authoritarian rule of Antón Castillo, a dictator determined to return his nation to it’s former glory by any means necessary. His son Diego learns all the ways and means of oppression through his father.
Castillo’s oppression triggers a modern-day guerrilla revolution. You play as a revolutionary fighter and fight the oppressors. It definitely has the tell tale ingredients of a Far Cry game, the only thing missing is some form of psychedelic and it’ll be juuuust right. Any guesses on what the drug of choice will be? If any?
Far Cry 6 is set to release October 7th, 2021. The action shooter is releasing on every current and next gen platform besides the Nintendo Switch. Far Cry 6 will also release on Google’s game streaming platform Stadia.
With only a little over a month to go we’re excited to jump into another round of Far Cry. Let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to playing the game as well!
