Hitman 3 Is Entirely Playable In VR, But Only On PSVR (Trailer)

Hitman 3 is entirely playable in virtual reality (VR) with PSVR in a mode called Sandbox. Additionally, every environment included in the two previous reboot Hitman games can be imported to Hitman 3.

And yes, the classic levels from Hitman 1 and 2 are also playable from the eyes of Agent 47. Sadly though, you won’t be able to see the iconic barcode anymore.

Hitman 3 in VR on PSVR

IO Interactive announced Hitman 3 in VR for PSVR last year, though that seemed to fly under the radar a bit. With the upcoming launch on January 20, we get an epic reminder of the feature through a new gameplay trailer.

As you’d expect, playing as the deadly assassin in VR embodies the very definition of immersive. Moreover, it complete changes the way you play the game. Hitman has traditionally always been about stealth.

But losing the third person perspective changes the dynamic. Instead, you’ll be sneaking, disguising, and quietly killing with a new set of ‘skills’.

For example, you can now physically peak corners and ledges instead of using 3rd person to look around a corner. You can even tap baddies on the shoulder and skillfully take them out in the confusion. But the inclusion of VR seems to change the playstyle a bit too. Instead of focusing on stealth, VR lends itself to some badass firefights.

What about the rest of us?

Sadly though, this epic new feature only applies to people with PSVR. While I own an Oculus Rift, there’s no word on if I can play the game in VR eventually too. To clarify, you can still import levels from 1 and 2 into Hitman 3. It’s just be ‘plain old’ regular reality, not virtual.

Hitman 3 releases on January 20 for PS5 and PS4 (with PSVR support), and for Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC, Stadia and Nintendo Switch (via cloud streaming).
