During the E3, Microsoft finally revealed the upcoming Forza Horizon 5 with two stunning trailers. In this article, we’ll dive into all the new features Forza Horizon 5 has to offer, along with it’s release date, details on the ‘car pass’, and more. Let’s see why the fifth Horizon-installment was voted Most Anticipated Game during the E3.
Forza Horizon 5
For the first time in the series’ long history, Playground Games takes us to Mexico. The gorgeous country offers many different environments. In the trailers, we see stretched out desert landscapes, lush rainforests, snowy mountains, dusty towns, and even a dormant volcano.
Of course, that huge and diverse world map is important to an open world racing game. The player has to be able to explore, the developer explains to the BBC. “The bigger space they can hang out, the more they can explore – I do think that a bigger horizon game will be more fun for people.”
And that map really is big. One-and-a-half times the size of Forza Horizon 4’s map (Britain) to be exact. Unlike the English isles, Mexico seems to offer a huge amount of variety in environments.
Graphics
Speaking of gorgeous environments, Forza Horizon 5 features some impressive detail. The water physics look amazing, the weather effects are off the charts, and the textures are just next level. The devs appear to have photoscanned every piece of scenery in an ultra high resolution.
Next Gen Performance
Depending on the platform you’re playing on, the game is either beautiful or absolutely stunning. Here’s all the platforms Forza Horizon 5 comes out on:
- Xbox Series S – 1080p at 30fps
- Xbox Series X – 4K at 30fps or 60FPS in performance mode
Note that the game also comes out on Xbox One. There are no official figures available for the last-gen console, but given the promised performance and resolution of the Series S, it’s highly unlikely the Xbox One will be able to churn out anything more than 1080p at 30fps.
Car Pass
Lastly today, Forza Horizon 5 introduces a Car Pass, a paid subscription that offers players a bunch of content for a year. The Car Pass offers a new car every week, for 42 weeks. As a bonus, players get 8 Formula Drift Cars for free.
Forza Horizon 5 release date
Forza Horizon 5 comes out on November 9 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also available on Xbox Game Pass right away.
