The prairies of Red Dead Online have been covered in snow in celebration of the holiday season. Rockstar Games has just launched their holiday event for Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mode and it comes with free goodies, Christmas decorations and some limited-time Festive Showdown Modes. Here’s what the holiday update entails.
Snow is slowly covering the frontier of Red Dead Online, although Rockstar is slowly adding it to the map, as opposed to GTA Online’s sudden shift in weather. All camps are now decorated with a nice Christmas tree. Underneath that tree, you’ll find an interesting little box.
Every player that logs into Red Dead Online between December 23rd and 25th will receive the following holiday gifts:
- The Krampus Double Barrel Shotgun Variant (seen in the header picture)
- 30 rounds of Incendiary Buckshot Ammo
- 100 Shotgun Slugs
- 10 Thyme Big Game
- 10 Minty Plump Birds
- 20 Carrots
- 20 Assorted Biscuits
- 50 Candies
- 10 Fine Brandies
- 10 Special Miracle Tonics
- 20 Volatile Fire Bottles
- 2x Creek Plums
- 2x Agarita
That’s not all free stuff you can get. If you log into Red Dead Online by January 6th you get a bunch of coupons you can redeem. The coupons are:
- 3,000 Club XP
- RDO$200 for starting a new Role
- 1x Free Trader Resupply Reward
- 1x Free Weapon Component of your choice Reward
- 1x Treasure Map Reward
- 1x Free Moonshiner Mash Refill Reward
- 30% off one Stable slot Offer
Along with all the in-game bonuses the holidays have made their way to many of the online Showdown modes. Modes like Spoils of War, Up in Smoke, and Overrun are now ‘decorated’ with a holiday theme. Surprisingly, PlayStation 4-players get a special Christmas gift in the form of a holiday theme for Gun Rush, Make it Count and Last Stand. It seems that Rockstar pulled a minor Activision here.
Lastly, a discount of 5 Gold bars is applied to the Butcher’s Table and 25% off the cost of the Medium Delivery Wagon, the Bounty Hunter variant of the Schofield Revolver and the Collector variant of the Lancaster Repeater. Oh, and if you’re a Collector, there’s some special missions you can do for an extra buck.
The Read Dead Online holiday event will run until January 6th.
